The Musée des Beaux-Arts

The Musée des Beaux-Arts is a great attraction located in Bordeaux, the city that hosts several collections of some of the most renowned paintings of the world, situated in the top 10 in France. These are the most beautiful art collections tourists could ever see.

The building of this museum has started at the beginning of the 19th century, exactly in 1801. Napoleon named this museum as a part of the Royal collection and during the war, a collection that has around 30 paintings. Some of them are the Van Dyck’s Portrait of Marie Medici and Rubens’ St George. A great step was made in 1829, when it was decided for the museum to have bought the collection of Marquis of Lacaze’s majestic, that would include around 280 incredible works.

At the moment, the first rooms hosts French and Italian works of the 16th until the 18th century. Also, the English school of the 18th century is represented with well known paintings of Reynolds, Ramsay, Lawrence, etc .

At this museum are even rooms with paintings in Neo-Classicism style and works until the 20th century.
